Sadie Miller (she/her)

Sadie Miller was born in San Antonio and raised in Austin, Texas. As a child, Sadie had an active imagination and creative streak; she would walk around the backyard telling herself stories, run around outside at her school, and play collaborative and imaginative games with her friends. Today, she has an eclectic set of interests, from creative writing and storytelling to sustainable agriculture, social activism, animals, sewing and cross-stitching, and more.

As one of Ariel's (Appamada's founder) children, Sadie attended Appamada School from the beginning. She gained a unique perspective on non-traditional education, running a business, and a deep appreciation for the Appamada School. Sadie has tried to incorporate the things she learned as a high school student, both from her classes and as someone with an inside perspective, into her daily life. After Appamada, Sadie attended Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, a liberal arts and Buddhist university. There she learned about other forms of alternative education, meditation, feminist and queer writing, and who she was as a person.

She returned to Austin, Texas, in 2020 and spent a year at St. Edwards. Being in a more traditional learning environment for the first time gave her a new perspective on the many forms education can take and why alternative environments are important.

When not working, Sadie can be found listening to podcasts, working on creative projects like writing stories, drawing, reading and rereading her favorite books, or playing tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons. She also enjoys taking walks outside, spending time with her dog, sewing stuffed animals and exploring whatever the latest of her many interests may be.
