Meet our High School Language Arts Teacher
Naya Luna (they/she)
Naya is a Dripping Springs high school graduate who attended the University of Texas at Dallas. They earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and an English Language Arts Texas teaching certification. They were employed at Richardson ISD for one year teaching 9th grade English On-Level and Inclusion, then worked at Dripping Springs ISD for two years teaching 10th grade English On-Level and Honors, as well as Creative Writing. Naya is also a skateboarding coach, having taught tens of elementary-aged students how to skateboard for the last three years while helping advocate for a skatepark in Dripping Springs.
They believe that students are best served when supported individually. Every child is unique and deserves an environment where they can grow as learners and as human beings. Naya makes sure to focus on relationships, as she knows that a classroom’s culture and the instructor’s personality are crucial for an authentic and amiable learning experience.
During the weekends, you can find Naya outside, skateboarding in the wild and at skateparks, or at home, likely re-reading the Red Rising series for 4th time now, over other titles equally deserving of her attention. At night, find her observing the wonders of space through an 80mm refractor or typing away at their newest sci-fi novel. She is a lover of psychology, cultural philosophy, the sciences, futurism, political science, gender studies, activism and advocacy, backyard astronomy, and any music that can make her dance or headbang.
