Meet our Dog
Joy (she/her)
Joy joined the Appamada staff roster after a rough life. She grew up on the streets of Laredo, Texas, before winding up in a high-kill shelter. The good people of Addicus’ Legacy Rescue, a fostering agency dedicated to helping get dogs off the streets and out of kill shelters, brought her into their network. She was pregnant at the time, and she delivered a healthy litter of pups before joining our staff. She belongs to Brian, the theatre teacher, making her both a school dog and a theatre kid.
Despite the challenges and scars from her previous life, she absolutely loves people. She hops for joy when she gets to work every morning. When you meet her, she insists that you pet her. She loves squeaky things and stuffed animals, running, playing with other dogs, chasing (though not usually retrieving) rubber balls, and meeting whoever happens to be around in coffee shops. And yet, her favorite thing is to curl up on the couch with a student or faculty member.
