Meet Our Technology Teacher

Born and raised in the bustling, artistic city of Austin, Texas, Davy is no stranger to the many creative communities in the world of technology. Being both an avid tech geek and an artist at heart, Davy’s passion is everything that encapsulates experiences where art meets tech. Digital art, video game development, storytelling, and character design are among the many types of media that Davy has been enamored with ever since he can remember.

After learning how to program and design games at around the age of 10, Davy has since developed a strong drive for creating unforgettable experiences that pretty much anyone can engage with. Fun, fantastical game worlds full of lovable, relatable characters where someone can simply be themselves is what Davy strives to create.

Creative media allows creators to translate their passions and joys into something tangible. That tangible experience can then offer players and viewers an escape from the stresses of everyday life - a chance to breathe, a chance to spend time understanding others and oneself. What motivates you? What brings you happiness? Engaging with these aspects of yourself is the type of creative experience Davy lives for.

His drive for creating such experiences directly translates into his teaching philosophy - Davy believes that one of the most effective ways to learn is to engage with the most applicable, real-world forms of what you’re learning. Why are you learning? How can your skill be applied to something meaningful in your life?

As a lifelong chaser of knowledge, Davy believes that it’s never too late to keep learning - he is very open-minded and lights up at the prospect of learning a new skill. With this in mind, Davy strives to work alongside students in their academic journey, learning new things and overcoming challenges together.

Davy graduated from Austin Community College. There, he met many like-minded people and came together with them to create his very first serious game project. The feeling of bringing a once-conceptual dream to fruition was a highly motivating stepping stone in Davy’s life, inspiring him to pass on those skills to other eager creatives looking to fulfill their passion in tech.

Since then, Davy has continued to create independent games alongside fellow creators. With these experiences under his belt, Davy has found that teamwork, collaboration, and communication have been some of the most important pillars in his tech career. Given our nature as social creatures, group collaboration can highly promote creative thinking, new approaches to problems, and places where everyone can confidently voice their goals. These are staples to what Davy believes is an engaging and effective team environment - whether that be a well-oiled development team or a classroom full of eager learners.

As an aspiring creative mind and a mentor eager to help others learn beyond their own abilities, Davy hopes to inspire and invoke the passions of budding developers, artists, and designers here at Appamada School - building a bright future for the world of technology!
